six months since going paid: a peek behind the paywall 💰
dishing how it's going (including my subscriber numbers!!)
welcome to The Sunday Series! if you’ve found yourself by way of a friend sharing or Substack Notes but aren’t subscribed yet, let me help you with that...
hi, Sunday Squad!
in today’s edition of The Sunday Series, I’m sharing one of my most vulnerable posts *ever* as I pull back the curtain behind my paid subscription here on Substack. I was inspired to try out this format by , a writer who publishes a wonderful book-focused Substack to which I’m a paid subscriber—I remember having a fire lit under me after she shared her “6 Months Since Going Paid: How's It Going?” post last August. I launched my paid tier just one month later in September, on my 31st birthday!
edition of The Sunday Series is too long for email, so I’d recommend clicking out to read in browser or even better, in the Substack app, where you can like and comment! your engagement on Substack means so much to me 💌
but before we get into all the fun that today’s edition holds, I wanted to announce the winners of my International Women’s Day giveaway. in last week’s send embedded above, I showcased a handful of inspiring female founders and some of the stories behind their brands. as a small way of saying thank you for supporting The Sunday Series, paid subscribers were eligible for four giveaways. congratulations to Lauren (Crown Affair care package), Carlyn (Saie goodies), Didi (Fishwife Cookbook box), and Samantha (stack of books by female authors). more giveaways to come, friends!
get your popcorn ready!
it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that today’s post is exclusively for my paid subscribers. I feel so much more comfortable talking about personal topics like money, dating, and body image (all subjects I’ve delved into in past editions below the paywall) with those who I know are really here to support my work, and we’ll be continuing that trend in today’s post! I’m going to be sharing:
how many free and paid subscribers The Sunday Series has today. plus, a breakdown of subscriber growth since moving to Substack in October 2023
what’s worked to generate subscriber growth: top performing posts
monthly/total revenue at six months in and projected annual Substack income
why I treat this like pursuit a part-time job: the time it takes me to curate this content
goals for how I want to see The Sunday Series grow and what I’m doing to get there in the next six months!
how many subscribers does The Sunday Series have? and how many are paid?
