Rooted in Ritual: recipes I’m cooking this week
including my grocery list, plus what I bought at the Sephora Sale
Hi, friends!
Since writing to you last Sunday about 9 tips and tricks to survive shorter days and longer nights, I feel like I’ve lived nine lives. The Bills-Chiefs game was far too much fun to put into words, and *very* worth sleeping what felt like only a few hours before I hauled it to the airport in time to get on a 6 a.m. flight back to New York. My 20-hour Monday continued straight into work work work before attending the New York Public Library Literary Lions Gala as ’s date alongside fellow member, Laura! We had way toooooo much fun supporting NYPL in black tie attire and dancing to The Life of A Showgirl in the library halls. If you want to learn more about making a tax-deductible donation to support the critical work of the library, check out the details here.
The week continued on with lots of other fun, including a dinner amongst fellow women in the travel industry at Faena (my third time there in seven days—what a vibe!!!!) and a very special event at Meta in which I was able to meet Malala and Shonda Rhimes. CRAZYYYY. It’s never lost on me how fortunate I am to have the opportunities I do—much of which stem from putting myself out there and, in turn, encourage me to keep doing the putting myself out there!!
Coming off of this packed week, I was desperately craving a reset yesterday. So, what transpired was my ideal solo Saturday. I slept in. I read my current book, Loved One by Alisha Muharrar. I went up to Central Park for a run in the peak fall foliage. I came home and showered and napped (yes, after sleeping in, still tired!). I did laundry. I walked down to Charles Street to try the tahini date latte at The Elk. I successfully snagged a new iPhone—if you’re still on the hunt, this week, stock seems to be increasing. I got a massage. I came home and had leftover Via Carota and watched all three parts of the Victoria Beckham documentary while working on this very newsletter and finishing off a pint of Butterfield x Caffe Panna. The peeeeerfect day? I sure think so.

I finally did my Sephora Sale haul and am excited to share both what I had my eye on this week, as well as some of my regular staples below. Admittedly, all of my ride or die products (particularly in the realm of skincare) aren’t carried at Sephora, but I just recently did a deep dive on all of my routine, so you can peep that if you missed it for a more complete list of my go-tos.
But back to Sephora fun! In this most recent order, I’m most excited about the Kérastaste 8h Magic Night Hair Serum, as well as a bunch of minis I got for upcoming travels, including the Crown Affair Mini Air Dry Hair Set, Tatcha’s Rice Wash Skin Softening Cleanser, and the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil as a mini. Ready for your haul? The sale ends tomorrow, November 10th, so don’t wait! Use code EVERYTHING when putting any of the below items in your cart for 20% off if you’re Rouge ($1,000 annual spend), 15% off if you’re VIB ($350 annual spend), or 10% off if you’re an Insider (no minimum annual spend requirement).

If October was for indulgence—dinner parties, second slices of cake, and spontaneous glasses of wine that turned into nights out—November is for coming home to yourself. As I mentioned in last week’s send, I’m all about leaning into the rituals that feel grounding: cooking, cleaning, resting, and reading. There’s something about this month that invites a slower rhythm, one that lets you find pleasure in small acts of care, like stirring soup on the stove or slicing apples for overnight oats.
This week’s edition is less about restriction and more about replenishment. It’s about stocking your fridge with things that make you feel good from the inside out—the kind of meals that carry you through dark mornings and cozy nights. Call it a soft reset, call it self-care; either way, here’s to a fridge full of possibility.
So, in the spirit of small resets, I’m sharing the recipes I’m making and this week’s grocery list to make it all possible. Think: a mix of grounding staples and vibrant flavors to carry you through the week. I’m dreaming up roasted beets drizzled with honey, coconut curry that warms you from the inside out, and a kale salad that somehow tastes better the next day. These are meals meant to multitask: cozy enough for dinner, clean enough for lunch, and easy enough to make cooking for one feel like an act of care instead of a chore!
breakfast: Apple Pie Overnight Oats
lunch: Detox Kale Salad topped with Pecan Crusted Asian Turkey Meatballs
dinner: Coconut Chicken Curry
dinner side: Roasted Beets With Hazelnuts and Honey
dinner that’ll become leftovers for lunch, too: Paleo Creamy Dreamy Sausage and Kale Soup
Because cooking for one is less about quantity and more about quality—just enough to make your fridge feel full of possibility.
Produce
arugula: peppery, crisp, and hearty for easy desk lunches
apples and/or pears: for compote and snacking
